About This Spot

Stepping into Two Chefs Eating Place feels like slipping into a well-loved corner of Singapore’s vibrant food scene—a no-frills, casual spot where the hum of conversations and the clink of plates combine into a comforting backdrop. It’s a lively local eatery where the pace is unhurried, people gather in small groups or families to share familiar favorites, and the warmth comes as much from the genuine service as from the food itself.

The space is straightforward and sheltered, offering a humble shelter from the city’s bustle without pretense, inviting everyone from longtime regulars celebrating a birthday to newcomers discovering dishes that feel thoughtfully prepared. Whether you’re there early, just as the kitchen comes to life, or during the early evening lull, there’s a quiet pulse to the place that hints at years of steady tradition.

Here, the menu is an unspoken conversation between chefs and diners—a mix of comforting classics and subtle surprises. Rich pork ribs come with a delicate touch, allowing the diner to decide just how buttery or nuanced the flavors become. Herbal-infused recipes, seafood cooked with a gentle hand, and vibrant vegetable dishes speak to a kitchen that respects balance and authenticity over flash. The joy is in the familiar spices mingling with tender textures, each plate inviting a moment of shared discovery around the communal table.

What stands out most is the thoughtful manner in which dishes arrive—small details like separately packed sauces that let you personalize every bite reveal a care that goes beyond cooking. It’s not about grand gestures but the lived-in comfort of something reliably good, where affordability and straightforwardness add to the feeling that this is a place made for real life, not just for dining.

Two Chefs Eating Place captures the unassuming spirit of a Singaporean zi char joint where memories are steeped into every dish, and the everyday joy of gathering over a meal quietly unfolds with each visit.

We have tried the food several times and it has always been consistently good. This time, instead of dining in, we ordered takeaway. For the pork ribs with butter, they thoughtfully packed the butter separately so we could adjust it to our preference. The butter sprinkle had a flavor that reminded me of lightly salted egg with curry leaves, combined with the creamy richness of butter. I forgot to request no chilli for the beancurd enoki, which would have been better for the kids, but it was still delicious. Overall, the taste was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I spent $43 for three medium-sized dishes, which I find worth it. Payment is convenient too, as CDC vouchers are accepted and the balance can be topped up with cash. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes. I placed my order around 2pm, just before they closed for a break, so it wasn’t crowded and everything went smoothly.

Two Chefs is definitely one of my favorite zhi char spots. A place I’ve been enjoying since young (我年轻吃到大的味道). Their standard has always been quite consistent, and the prices are affordable, plus you can even use CDC vouchers here. I visited about 2 weeks ago for my sibling’s birthday celebration and managed to book a table for 8 on a Sunday, which was great. The food never disappoints. My absolute favorites are the butter pork ribs, coffee pork ribs, and fried yam. The coffee pork ribs are incredibly flavorful, while the butter pork ribs stand out with the unique addition of milk powder. It adds such a nice fragrance and taste. The fried yam is perfectly crispy and really addictive. Overall, a reliable and delicious zhi char place that I’ll always come back to!

Still as tasty as my last visit which was many years back. Glad they maintain their quality. Reasonable pricing and CDC vouchers allowed for use

The zi char food here was great; I ordered 4 different dishes and I liked them all. The overall price was affordable and food was enough for 2 people. I paid cash as they only accept that or CDC vouchers.

We order their recommended dishes. The food is delicious. You can come earlier than the operating hours at about 15 mins earlier they will start already. Environment is okay, sheltered eating place. Cash or CDC Vouchers only.

Delicious, value for money. Very local vibes, open air, without air conditioning place. They only accept cash. The quality of food was very decent. One of the better Zi chars around. Try the pork ribs and fried prawn paste chicken wings. The fried rice also tasted great! I would recommend this place. Thumbs up!

Visited Two Chefs Eating Place at Commonwealth and it absolutely lived up to its reputation for honest, flavourful zi char. We ordered their famous coffee ribs and the XO fish slice hor fun, and both dishes were standout favourites. The coffee ribs were fragrant the moment they arrived at the table, a perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and slightly bitter notes from the coffee coating. The meat was tender and came off the bone easily, with a caramelised glaze that made every bite addictive. It’s clear why this is their signature dish; it’s unique yet comforting. The XO fish slice hor fun was equally impressive. The wok hei was strong, the hor fun silky, and the XO sauce added a beautiful depth without overpowering the dish. The fish slices were fresh, thick, and perfectly cooked, complementing the savoury gravy so well. My only gripe is the fish has a 土味. It’s one of those dishes that feels simple but is executed with real skill. Service was fast and efficient even though the place was busy, and the overall experience felt very local, lively, and satisfying. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions. If you’re looking for classic zi char with standout flavours, Two Chefs at Commonwealth is definitely worth the trip. I’ll be back!

CASH &CDC only. No card/online payment. Food is good, every dish portion is normal. Interesting dish butter pork rib, pork rib is nicely cooked. Garlic with cockles are raw, garlic and chili mask the raw bloody taste. Quite unique. We were there at 9pm on a Sat night, pretty crowded. (Almost full by 9.30am).
